Wordpress Maintenance

Friday, January 26th, 2007

I am getting ready to run some maintenance and upgrades on my Wordpress install. Don’t be surprised if you get some errors for the next hour. *crosses fingers*
Update: All done. Hopefully there are no bugs hiding anywhere.

Support the Site

Saturday, December 2nd, 2006

Striped Wall is a large collective and will only continue to grow. On an average day, the site generates a little more than 1GB of traffic. I hope everyone enjoys the site and finds what they need. If you would like to support the site (and get your holiday shopping out of the way!), there [...]

Gallery Login/Registration

Monday, September 25th, 2006

I had a busy weekend, and when checking the stats this morning I see the site did, too. We were using 24% and 28% the last two days. Yep, that means I am turning off the anonymous access. Please login at the gallery to view the caps. I know sometimes it’s a pain to register, but it’s really simple and a one-time thing. When you login, click “Remember Me,” and a cookie will be set so you don’t have to login again for a while. I should be able to turn anonymous access back on soon for everyone who doesn’t like to register or login. Thanks for understanding.

Convenient links to login or register at the gallery are in the sidebar.

P.S. You guys sure love those Grey’s Anatomy caps, don’tcha? ;-)

del.icio.us

I have added a bit of functionality so you can bookmark pages at del.icio.us now. You will find the icon and link on pretty much every page of the blog and gallery. I hope this is useful!

Gallery Login/Registration

Friday, August 11th, 2006

Almost a week has gone by, and I think the activity has cooled down. The required login/registration is turned off. I know sometimes it’s a pain to register, but it’s really simple and a one-time thing. Thanks for understanding.

Convenient links to login or register at the gallery are in the sidebar.

Arrested Development & Norton Security

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

It’s been brought to my attention that Norton’s default settings block images if they are in a directory with ‘ad’ in the name. It also blocks images if the file name has ‘ad’ in it. Unfortunately, this means that the nearly 20,000 Arrested Development screencaps I have are not showing up for some of you. I’m not sure how many people are having this problem since it’s only just been mentioned. If you can’t see the screencaps, please let me know. At the moment, there is no easy way of fixing this on my end as it would involve renaming all of the files and either reuploading them all and readding them to the gallery or mass editing their information directly in the database. None of these sound like fun ideas early on a Sunday morning. ;-)

If anyone is familiar with settings in Norton to indicate “safe” web sites or something similar, please comment or send me an email. Links to helpful sites is most appreciated.

Edit: Here is a link with a simple example you can follow to allow specific sites to display their content regardless of directory or file names. There are a couple more links in the comments of this post.
